Fashion News: Salone time

The Salone del Mobile is staged in Milan from 5 to 10 September (exceptionally postponed to from April due to the pandemic). Between the official event and the Fuorisalone, the 2021 edition is full of events in the name of the restart. The fashion houses also get on the bandwagon, between collaborations with supply brands and the launch of their own design lines. Here are the news of the week. 

Zara and Kassl

KASSL Editions, the cult utility-wear label, launches a collection of home and ready-to-wear items with Zara. From the rain hat to the quilted sofa.

Bulgari at the Gallery of Modern Art

Four artists interviewed by Bulgari for the “Metamorphosis” exhibition: he asked them to create as many works in eco-sustainable materials to be exhibited in these days at the Modern Art Gallery in via Palestro. Here Ann Veronica Janssens, Azuma Makoto, Daan Roosegaarde, Vincent Van Duysen investigate the concept of metamorphosis and all its facets.

Off-White ™ and Ginori 1735

The 18th century meets streetwear. Off-White c / o Virgil Abloh ™ presents a new limited home collaboration with Ginori 1735, the first drop of a long partnership planned for 2022. Right from the start, the silhouettes of the Antico Doccia collection typical of the 1700s and of the late Baroque Florentine silverware meet youth and streetwear aesthetics.

Roberto Cavalli presents the Scratch Capsule Collection by Fausto Puglisi, the new creative director. Previewed in the boutique in Via Montenapoleone 6 / A, it anticipates the online launch and the exclusive sale on the maison's website.

Tod's and upcycling

At the center of Tod's project for the patchwork and upcycling show: another point in favor of sustainability in this 2021 edition where there are many “green” projects. The Italian footwear brand asked the artist Willie Cole to create some design objects in collaboration with the maison's artisans. Objective: to transform leathers, semi-finished products and recycled materials into works of art. The result will be exhibited in the brand's boutique in via Montenapoleone together with the launch of a collection of bags and accessories made using the same virtuous technique. 

MAX & Co and food design

From 2 to 13 September 2021 MAX & Co. celebrates the return of the Salone del Mobile with an installation set up in the windows of the Milan flagship store, overlooking Corso Vittorio Emanuele and Piazza del Liberty. Created by Arabeschi di Latte, a food design studio, the work transforms food and dishes into pieces of furniture and design objects: a "Macedonia Collection" where fruit and vegetables become compositions with unexpected uses and are transformed into fun and slightly bizarre.

Pomandère opens the showroom to ceramics

Pomandère opens the doors of the Milanese showroom to the creativity of Chiara Bernardini: in the space of via Tortona 14 in Milan, from 5 to 8 September 2021 from 10.00 to 18.00, the artist's glazed ceramics are staged.
